FAQ

QCDD Mechanical & HVAC Exam – Self Learning Package (SLP) FAQ

Applications must be submitted through your company’s PRO, along with a Letter of Intent, UPDA certificate, attested experience, CV, QID, proof of address, and QCDD-registered company details.

Applicants must have a Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent), UPDA Grade A/B/C, minimum 2 years’ experience in firefighting or HVAC systems, and must be employed with a QCDD-registered company.

Consultant companies can nominate engineers for QCDD approval to handle design, supervision, and approval responsibilities for Mechanical/HVAC fire safety systems.

Contracting companies nominate engineers for QCDD approval to carry out installation, execution, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of firefighting and HVAC systems.

No. Only QCDD-registered consultant or contracting companies can apply on behalf of engineers.

Usually 5–10 working days after submission of all required documents through your company PRO.

Two attempts are allowed. If unsuccessful, a re-exam can be scheduled after one month. A third attempt may be considered only with QCDD officer approval.

The exam is computer-based, in English, consisting of 40 multiple-choice questions, lasting 2 hours, with a passing score of 70%.

Key standards include NFPA 13, 14, 20, 22, 24, 25, 92, 90A, 96, 204, and other QCDD-approved technical requirements for firefighting and HVAC systems.

You can re-apply after one month through your company PRO. Further attempts may only be allowed with QCDD approval.

The SLP provides full access to presentations, recorded lessons, NFPA-focused study materials, mock tests, and progress tracking via our LMS. It does not include live sessions or doubt clearance.

Yes. You can upgrade anytime to live training with interactive doubt clearance, and your SLP payment will be adjusted against the training course fee.
