FAQ

PMP (Project Management Professional)

Candidates must meet the education and experience criteria in the PMP Examination Content Outline effective July 2026. All experience must be non-overlapping and within the last 10 years.

Secondary diploma: 60 months (5 years) of project leadership experience.
Associate or post-secondary degree: 48 months (4 years) of project leadership experience.
Bachelor’s degree: 36 months (3 years) of project leadership experience.
Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree from a GAC-accredited programme: 24 months (2 years) of project leadership experience.
All candidates need 35 hours of project management training, which is waived for active CAPM holders.

The PMP exam fee is USD 405 for PMI members and USD 655 for non-members, as listed on the PMI website. The fee is payable after your application has been accepted. PMI may revise fees, so please confirm the current amount on the PMI website before you pay.

PMP certification must be renewed every three years by earning 60 PDUs and paying PMI’s renewal fee. Please check the PMI website for the current renewal fee.

You may attempt the exam up to 3 times within one year of your application approval.
After three attempts, a one-year waiting period is required before reapplying.
Candidates can apply for other PMI certifications during the waiting period.

The re-examination fee is set by PMI and differs for members and non-members. Please check the PMI website for the current amount.

The exam is available worldwide through Pearson VUE test centers and online proctored mode.

Questions are case or scenario, graphic-based, multiple-choice, multiple-response, matching and drag-and-drop, covering People 33%, Process 41% and Business Environment 26%.
